Thanks so much for sending the Improvisational Insights cards. You were curious on what we did. Here you go!

My team selected the ideation exercise called “no because / yes but / yes and.”

We ran the ideation session with 15 people. The facilitators (myself and two others) were active participants in the play. We kicked off with this activity with the no because, yes but, yes and written on a flip chart.

We did the exercise. Debriefed around how we all recognize and prefer No Because over Yes But. YB is just NB in a falsely diplomatic cover…they said.  YA was fun and crazy.

Then, we left the phrases on the flip chart all day in full view.

When some one started challenging they were warmly positively confident to go to “no because” and or  “yes and”….and get challenged. We laughed several times throughout the day at ourselves and with each other as we learned to stay direct in a fun way that eased tension when it arose.

We had 6 hours of ideation! It was a long day and the start made a good difference.

Pure gold for 20 minutes of play!

All good,
